Anime to recommend to people who do not watch anime

May 29, 2011

Clannad

Anime fans have voted for anime that they would recommend to people who do not watch anime at all, which could be possibly used as a kind of a ice-breaker with anime or just as a regular TV series. The first rank is not very surprising given the story of Clannad, but the fourth rank might be a bit of a surprise, at least for me as I wouldn't recommend it for non-anime viewers. Very surprising is also Yosuga Sora at the 16th rank. Would you recommend it to anyone who is not acquainted with anime/manga world? I would not! Not if I wanted to retain some positive relationship with them. What would be the series that you would recommend to people who don't watch anime?

Touwa Erio by Fujimoto Akio

I'm hereby serving the regular Saturday meal. It teems with delicious ingredients as usual, some of which even claim to be extraterrestrial and some of which are vampirical. Enjoy the tutti frutti cake! The cake is a lie; it's an ice cream cup.

Taketatsu Ayana in Nurse Uniform

May 24, 2011

Taketatsu Ayana

Ayanyan peropero~ Yes, that was the obligatory start of this post. Taketatsu Ayana appeared in front of cameras in nurse outfit, despite her initial strong unwillingness, which you can hear in the video. However, what's important is that she gave up in the end and stepped in front, casted her sweater away and unbarred her nurse appearance in full. She let herself be photographed for 40 seconds, but Numakura Manami didn't care and went on taking photos for another minute ^^ I hope the photos make their way to the vast seas of the Internet.

Sphere's 7th single Hazy released

May 12, 2011

Sphere Hazy

Yesterday, May 11, was the release date of Sphere's 7th single titled Hazy. The title song is called Hazy and it is used as the ending theme for currently airing anime Hanasaku Iroha, which I thoroughly enjoy, and the coupling song is named Neo Eden. While Neo Eden is the typical upbeat song and great material for otagei, Hazy is rather slow than fast and it is magically lovely. Plus, Minako wobbles in a strange way throughout the PV, which is very funny. Hazy ranked #8 on Oricon Daily Single Chart on the release date, one place higher than May'n. Let's see if it can stay in the top 10 even for the Weekly Chart. I hope so.

You can still get the limited edition w/DVD on CDJapan, and of course the regular edition is available as well.

Nendoroid Generation PSP Trailer

May 10, 2011

Nendoroid Generation PSP

Here's a trailer for the recently announced game for PSP produced by Bandai in collaboration with Good Smile Company titled Nendoroid Generation. As has been revealed earlier, the game includes some kind of a battle mode as well as a dancing mode. Nothing new is revealed in the trailer, apart from some background images and moving patterns of the Nendoroids, but the scenes of Nendoroids moving and jumping around are extremely adorable. The dancing mode in particular. Like I said before, fans of Nendoroids will surely enjoy it. The trailer itself is really cool, starting on a serious note and then suddenly changing into a cute video.

Seiyuu Now and Then

May 6, 2011

Old pictures

2ch has provided us with two images with comparison of seiyuu as they look now and as they looked some time ago. Even one male seiyuu is included and his looks compared. Generally speaking, most if not all of them look better now than they look in the old pictures. I dare say that only Wakamoto Norio looks better in the old picture and that is only because he's in his 60s now. Is there anyone who you find better-looking in the old picture? If yes, please share your opinion in the comments. Just in case, the fields in picture 1 match the fields in picture 2. In other words, you will find the same person in the same field in both pictures.

GSC 10th Anniversary Event

May 2, 2011

GSC 10th Anniversary Event

The manufacturer of figures Good Smile Company has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in Akihabara. They had all of their figures put on display ordered by their release date starting from 2001 and ending with 2011, including mostly scale figures and nendoroids. In addition, they had a huge banquet there with heaps of not only deliciously but also cute looking and GSC themed food. You wouldn't be surprised if someone had trouble to eat it; it was so cute it'd be a waste to do such an abominable thing as to shove it in your mouth.

GSC 10th Anniversary Event

It was announced at the event that GSC was able to raise 74,394,000 yen to donate to the Japanese Red Cross thanks to their Hatsune Miku Nendoroid Support Ver. project. 1,000 yen from every order has been set aside for earthquake relief, which means that 74,394 nendoroid orders have been made. The number would be bigger if GSC online shop shipped to more countries than it does.
